New Delhi: Thanking people for active participation in his monthly radio broadcast programme Mann-Ki-Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the show as about people and not politics.

Speaking in the 50th edition of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann ki Baat’ through All India Radio, the PM said the initiative has able to generate a sense of positive feeling among the people.

“Most people believe that the greatest contribution of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has been the enhancement of a feeling of positivity in our society. The medium of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has promoted many a mass revolution. #indiapositive has been the subject of quite an extensive discussion. This is an exemplary glimpse of the feeling of positivity, innate to our countrymen,” the PM said.

“People have shared their experiences, conveying the rise of selfless volunteerism as a consequence of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. It is a change where people are increasingly willing to contribute for the sake of service to society. I am overjoyed on account of the fact that through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, radio is rising as a popular medium, more than ever before. But it’s not about just radio… people are connecting with this programme and ensuring their participation through T.V., FM Radio, Mobile, Internet, Facebook Live; along with periscope, through the NarendraModiApp too,” the PM said.

Terming the programme as being about people, not politics, the PM said, ‘when Mann ki Baat began, I decided that politics will not be a part of it. It’ll neither have the praises of the government nor my name. I got the inspiration and strength to stay true to my resolution from all of you.

Mann Ki Baat is about people, not politics. In Mann-Ki-Baat the voice may be mine, but the emotions and spirit are of the common people. All suggestions and comments made through this platform have been very close to me. As a run up to each episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the expectations and aspirations of listeners through their letters, online comments & phone calls are crystal clear. Modi may come and go, but this country will never let go of its UNITY and permanence, our culture will always be immortal. These minute stories encompassing a 130 crore countrymen will always stay alive.’

He also thanked the media for playing Mann Ki Baat on their channels on a regular basis.

“I thank the media for playing Mann Ki Baat on their channels on a regular basis. No political person is ever happy with the media, they think they don’t get enough coverage or get negative coverage, however, the media has made the issues raised in programme their own,” the Prime minister said.
