PM urges all parties to get 'Triple Talaq' Bill passed

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged all political parties to help in the passage of the Triple Talaq Bill in the Budget session to protect Muslim women.Talking to reporters ahead of the Budget session which commenced on Monday with President Ram Nath Kovind addressing both the houses of Parliament, the PM said that the Union Budget will fulfil aspirations of the people.

Appealing to all political parties to help in the passage of the Bill in the Budget session, the PM said,’’ I make a humble request to all the parties to get the Bill on Triple Talaq passed. We have to pass it and protect the Muslim women. Let us begin 2018’s first Parliament session by giving strength to our Muslim sisters by empowering them by passing the Triple Talaq Bill.’’

The PM said that the Union Budget will help fulfil the aspirations of the people.‘’The Budget will add a new vigour to India’s development and fulfil aspirations of people,’’ the Prime Minister said.Seeking cooperation from all political parties for the smooth running of the session, the PM said, 'We should make use of our system of Parliamentary committees and discuss aspects of the Budget. We should think about the well-being of rural India, farmers, Dalits, tribal communities and labourers.’’

Stressing on the importance of the Budget session, the PM said, 'This Budget Session is important. The world is optimistic about India. Agencies like the World Bank and IMF have been giving an optimistic opinion of the country.’’

The PM had, in the all-party meeting called on Sunday by the government, sought a constructive cooperation from all political parties for the smooth running of the session.The Budget session, that commenced with the President’s address, will end on April 6 with a nearly a month's recess from February 9 to March 4.(UNI)
