PNB claims, no one will be spared involved in Rs 11,400 cr scam

New Delhi: Sunil Mehta, MD, Punjab National Bank on Thursday said that those involved in the scam involving Rs 11,400 crores, will be brought to book and will be punished. Addressing a press conference on the issue, PNB MD accepted that it’s a sensitive issue and said that PNB believes in responsive banking and committed to clean banking. We will not spare anybody involved in it.He said that the bank itself detected the scam, started enquiry and informed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on January 29, 2018. On January 30, 2018 CBI filed the FIR and started investigation.
 

He said that his bank started the enquiry itself and we have done surgery to cancer in the system. The bank is cooperating with the agencies in the investigation.Mr Mehta accepted that the employees of the bank are involved in this scam and action has been taken against them.He also accepted that the foreign branches of Indian banks have been affected due to this.On the offer given by Neerav Modi to return the bank’s money, he said that Mr Modi had given this offer, but he had no concrete plan.
