New Delhi: Close on the heels of reports that the main accused in the Rs 11,0000-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam Nirav Modi has fled the country, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged connivance of the BJP government in the matter.'Is it possible to believe that he or Vijay Mallya left the country without active connivance of BJP government?' Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet.
The PNB has filed two complaints with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the fraudulent transactions to the tune of 1.77 billion dollars (around Rs 11,330 crore) with its Mumbai branch unearthed by the bank.Two different complaints have been registered by the bank authorities with CBI against the billionaire Jewellery designer Nirav Modi and a Jewellery brand in this connection on Tuesday night, according to the sources.
According to the probe agency sources, CBI was already probing Modi in a complaint registered against him earlier.Meanwhile, PNB told the stock market in a statement, "The bank has found a case of fake and unauthorized transactions in which some of the select account holders have been tried to benefit. It seems that based on the records of these transactions, some banks has given them loans abroad." It added that the total amount of these transactions was 1,771.69 million dollars. (UNI)
