President, PM greet people on occasion of Rakshabandhan

New Delhi: Today is Rakshabandhan. The festival of Rakshabandhan is being celebrated across the country on the full moon day of the traditional Indian luni-solar calendar month of Shravana to highlight the sanctity of love and duty between brothers and sisters. On the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended their greetings to the people. The President Mr Kovind said, this unique festival celebrates the sacred bond of commitment between sisters and brothers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion. "Raksha Bandhan ke pawan parv par deshwasi ko bahut bahut badhai (My heartiest compliments to the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan)," Mr Modi wrote in a tweet.  External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also tweeted saying: "Heartiest greetings on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan".
