New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday paid rich tributes to former President Rajendra Prasad on his birth anniversary.
The President paid floral tributes at the portrait of Prasad at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
"President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan," the President's office tweeted.
Remembering the former President, the VP in a tweet wrote, " One of the chief architects of modern India, Dr Rajendra Prasad played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of our nation. "
Dhankhar said he will always be remembered for his simplicity, integrity and compassion for all.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also took to twitter and wrote, " An invaluable pillar of the National Movement, he (Prasad) also served as the Congress President. Our humble homage." (UNI)
