New Delhi:President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday
greeted the people on the occasion of Holi and called for strengthening the bonds of friendship and amity that hold society together.
Conveying his greetings to fellow citizens, the President said in his message that the Festival of Colours, as the harbinger of hope, had a special place in our cultural calendar.
"Holi, with its myriad colours, is also the best reflection of our diversity and multicultural heritage. May this festival strengthen our faith in our cherished national values, and promote the good for all," the messsage said.
The Vice President in his message said the festival of colours is a time to come together and rejoice in the spirit of unity, brotherhood and affection. The lighting of the bonfire on the eve of Holi symbolised the triumph of virtue over evil.
"This Holi, let us strive to strengthen the bonds of friendship and amity that hold our society together. Let this festival break the barriers that divide us and unite us in the quest for shared prosperity, peace, progress, harmony and joy," Mr Naidu, in an official release, here said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished to his followers a happy holi. With a pic reading "Wishing everyone Happy Holi" NAMO wrote a caption Many congratulations to all of you on Holi, a festival of color, joy and ecstasy. This festival brought happiness in the lives of all the countrymen.(UNI)
