Prohibitory orders in Ayodhya for 25th anniversary of disputed structure demolition

Ayodhya: Prohibitory orders were enforced on Tuesday in the twin cities of Ayodhya-Faizabad ahead of the 25th anniversary of disputed structure demolition.Assembly of four or more persons in one place and processions by any community have been banned under Sec 144 CrPC even as elaborate security arrangements were made in the temple city of Ayodhya to prevent any untoward incident from happening in the communally-charged district.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) geared up to observe the day as 'shaurya diwas' (bravery day) while Muslim organisations planned to observe the day as ‘yaum-e-gham (day of sorrow) and yaum-e-syaah (black day).Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Subhash Singh Bhagel said here on Tuesday said that elaborate security arrangements were in place, including deployment of paramilitary forces.

“Special security cover would be given to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. Security arrangements in Ayodhya-Faizabad will be handled by four ASPs, 10 Dy SPs, 10 companies of central paramilitary forces, two companies of rapid action force (RAF), 400 constables, one platoon of women commandos, besides district police force,” he said.

Mr Baghel said all vehicles entering Ayodhya would be screened from today and, if necessary, entry of vehicles into Ayodhya could be banned. “All the programmes would be allowed inside the temple or any compound and nothing would be permitted on the road or open places,” the SSP said. (UNI)
