New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is all set to be elevated as party president as he is the only candidate left in the fray after the scrutiny of papers on Tuesday.'All the 89 sets of nomination papers filed by Mr Gandhi yesterday were found to be valid,' chairman of the party election authority Mullapalli Ramachandran told reporters here after the completion of scrutiny of papers.
However, a formal declaration of the Congress vice-president as elected unopposed will have to wait for December 11, which was the date of withdrawal of papers. Mr Gandhi will be replacing his mother Sonia Gandhi at party’s top post. (UNI)
