New Delhi: In a major boost to the government’s key initiative of cashless transactions and passenger friendly measures, Railways introduced the facility of booking train tickets from railway counters through Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) App.It will be implemented all over Railways on all PRS counters and UTS counters with effect from December 1, which will add to the digital payment option already available to railway passengers.
This facility will be available for booking of reserved tickets from Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and booking of Season Tickets (MST and QST) from Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters.
No additional charges will be levied from passengers making payment at railway counters using UPI or BHIM for a period of Three months.The facility of payment through the app for booking of e-tickets online on the IRCTC website has already been implemented earlier.
