New Delhi: Raj Kumar Singh on Thursday assumed charge as Cabinet Minister in the ministries of Power and New and Renewable Energy.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving the responsibility, Mr Singh said that the Prime Minister has shown great confidence and we will live upto that.
He said that his ministry has achieved targets of electrification set by the Prime Minister well before the schedule time and will strive to ensure that the benefits of power and energy sector reach the common man.
Mr Singh was holding the charge of this ministry as Minister of State (Independent Charge) and he has been elevated to the Cabinet rank on Wednesday in a mega reshuffle and expansion of the Union Council of Ministers.
In his brief presser, he stated" We have achieved targets of electrification set by Prime minister well before the deadline and will strive to ensure that the benefits of power and energy sector should reach the mango man"
Singh has been rewarded a portfolio of Power and New and Renewable Energy for game-changing reforms in the power sector which made the nation a power positive which earlier was debt-laden. His management of the power grid and distribution was impressive.
Also, his work in the area of renewable resources of Energy was also commendable. During his term, the solar power tariff slumped to Rs 1.99/ unit while the Wind energy tariff dropped to Rs 3 per unit.
