Room allocated in Jharkhand assembly for performing Namaz, BJP demands place for reciting 'Hanuman Chalisa'

Room allocated in Jharkhand assembly for performing Namaz, BJP demands place for reciting 'Hanuman Chalisa'

Ranchi:The allocation of room inside the Vidhansabha for performing Namaz has created fresh political controversy in the state with the main opposition party BJP condemning the act and demanded its withdrawal.

Chief whip of the BJP Biranchi Narayan said that if the Vidhansabha will be divided based on religious grounds it will lead to turmoil in the state and for this only the Vidhansabha speaker is to be blamed. He hoped that the decision will be withdrawn immediately.

He said that when for just three MLAs a separate room can be allocated then for 65 MLAs at least 15 rooms should be allocated or a big hall should be sanctioned where the MLAs can perform 'Hanuman Chalisa' or 'Satyanarayan Path'.

Biranchi Narayan said that earlier the governments use to indulge in appeasement but now it is the first instance where Vidhansabha is involved in appeasement.

On the other hand, former speaker and Ranchi MLA CP Singh said that now the Hindu MLAs should be permitted to construct a Hanuman Mandir inside the premises. He said that he has no issues with the Namaz but they should be also given a place for building a Hanuman Mandir.

"If the Speaker gives the permission and allocated place then with our money the temple will be constructed," CP Singh said.

As per a notification issued by the Vidhansabha dated September 2 room number TW-348 has been allocated for offering Namaz. The Monsoon Session of Jharkhand Session is being held from September 3-9.(UNI)
