Prayagraj: Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted on the instruction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to investigate into the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and Secretary of Niranjani Akhara here on Monday.
Prayagraj DIG Sarvasresth Tripathi has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and handed over the leadership of the team to Deputy SP Ajit Singh Chauhan.
On Tuesday, CM Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the Mahant after paying his last respect to the body of the Mahant at Shri Math Baghambri Gaddi in Prayagraj. After this, he said that no stone will be left unturned in the investigation into the death of the great saint and anyone in doubt will be dealt with strictly.
At present, along with Swami Anand Giri, six other people have been detained and interrogation is going on.
The police have already taken into custody deceased's disciple yoga guru Anand Giri, Aadya Tiwari, the chief priest of the Hanuman temple at Sangam, and his son Sandeep Tiwari.
In the SIT formed in the case of suspicious death of Mahant Narendra Giri, along with Deputy SP Ajit Singh Chauhan, Inspector Mahesh, the investigator of this case, has also been kept. In this matter, DIG Mr Tripathi said that if needed, police will also conduct lie detector test of some people.
Sources here said police is also investigating two videos related to the death of Mahant Narendra Giri.
There is talk of blackmailing Narendra Giri on the basis of a video. This video has also been mentioned in the alleged suicide note of Mahant Narendra Giri. The second video was made by Mahant Narendra Giri himself, in which he has narrated about the conspiracy against him.
On the basis of these videos, a big disclosure can be made after investigation, sources said.
An FIR has been registered in the George Town police station in connection with the suspicious death of Mahant Narendra Giri. In the report filed by Amar Giri Pawan Maharaj, a disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri, Mahant's disciple Anand Giri has been made a named accused.
According to this FIR, Mahant Narendra Giri went to the Baghambri Gaddi's room on Monday at around 12:30 pm for rest as usual after a meal. He had tea time at three o'clock in the afternoon, but he skipped it and had said that he would inform himself when he would have it. After this, there was no response from Mahant till 5 pm and which the doors were broken and police was informed. (UNI)
