Strong winds, rain throw normal life out of gear in Hamirpur

Hamirpur: Normal life in this district of Himachal Pradesh has come to a near standstill following intermittent light to medium rains accompanied by strong winds since last night.

Rain and winds have caused a dip in temperature and people are compelled to stay indoors.The rain along with strong winds damaged signboards, banners and power poles.

As per information reaching here this morning, power supply has also been affected in different parts of the district and is yet to be restored.

The rain was continuing at the time of the filing of this report.Meanwhile, farmers are happy with the rains claiming it to be beneficial for their Rabi crops.

On other hand, political people are finding it difficult to canvass for their respective candidates in wake of the PRI and civic body polls slated to be held on January 10th and thereafter on January 17th, 19th and 21 respectively. They are however, hopeful that the sky will become clear as forecast by the weather department.(UNI)
