Jaunpurn (UP): Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Aurag Sighania, who are accused in Bangalore based AI engineer Atul Subhash have been arrested by the police, police source said here on Sunday.

Official sources said that according to DCP Whitefield Division Shivkumar, accused Nikita Singhania was arrested from Gurgaon, Haryana, while mother-in-law Nisha Singhania and brother-in-law Anurag Singhania were arrested from Prayagraj. They were produced in court and sent to judicial custody. They are accused of demanding Rs 3 crore to withdraw the case against Atul and Rs 30 lakh for the right to meet her son.

These arrests were based on a complaint by Atul Subhash's brother The arrests came after Bengaluru police decided to seek help from Uttar Pradesh police to trace the accused in the case. The artificial AI engineer, originally from Samastipur in Bihar, was found dead in his Bengaluru flat on Monday, December 9. Atul Subhash's brother had filed a complaint against wife Nikita, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag and uncle Sushil Singhania.

Atul Subhash said before his death that had lodged serious charges against the accused to harass him and extract huge sums of money as alimony and maintenance. It was alleged that Nikita and her family members had filed several cases against him to harass him and extract huge sums of money as alimony and maintenance.

He alleged that Nikita had demanded Rs 3 crore to settle the matter. He also said that the court had asked him to pay Rs 80,000 per month as maintenance to Nikita and their son, but she wanted more than that.

Taking aim at the judicial system that favours women in such cases, Subhash wrote in the note, 'The more I work hard and get better at my work, the more I and my family will be harassed and extorted. Now after I am gone, there will be no money left and there will be no reason to harass my old parents and my brother. I may have destroyed my body, but it has saved everything I believe in.
