Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu): Suspecting fidelity of his wife, a 54-year-old man shot dead his wife with a country-made pistol at Pattanam in Coimbatore and later ended his life by shooting himself in his house at Vandazhi village in Palakkad district of Kerala on Monday.

Police said the deceased were identified as Sangeetha (42), who was working as a Kindergarten coordinator at a private public school in Kovilpalayam in Coimbatore and her husband Krishnakumar hailing from Kerala.

The couple had a frequent quarrel after Krishnakumar suspected that his wife was in an extra-marital relationship.

There was a heated argument between them over the issue this morning, after their two children had gone to the school.

Enraged over the squabble, Krishnakumar shot Sangeetha on her chest leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, he drove his car to Vandazhi village, where he shot himself dead.

On being informed by the neighbours, the Sulur police in Coimbatore rushed to the Lakshmi Nagar at Pattanam locality and removed the body of Sangeetha to Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here said the Palakkad police in Kerala recovered the country-made pistol from the house of Krishnakumar and are investigating.
