Three LeT militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar: Three militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in a brief encounter in south Kashmir district of Anantnag late last night, official sources said. Militants, travelling in a vehicle, opened fire when signaled by a naka party to stop in Anantnag.
 

Security forces immediately retaliated and in the encounter, which lasted few minutes, three militants were killed. Two of the militants were identified as Showkat Lohar and Muzaffar Hajam. The third was believed to be a foreigner, the sources said. Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid also confirmed the incident. Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, Dr Vaid said, “ In a chance encounter 3 terrorists killed near Anantnag by joint team of security forces. Their identities are being ascertained. Well done!”.
