Two police constables used to supply arms to Hizbul in Kashmir, arrested

Srinagar: Two constables of Jammu and Kashmir Police were taken into custody for supplying live rounds of ammunition to a Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said on Wednesday. The OGW has also been arrested, sources told UNI adding further investigation was on.
 

Giving details, the sources said that on October 9 a police barricading noticed a youth moving in suspicious conditions at Circuit House, Shopian. However, during the frisking of the youth, identified as Adil Ahmad, 25 live rounds of AK 47 rifle were recovered from his possession. During the questioning, Adil admitted that he was working as OGW of HM.

He further said that he and his friend Mudasir Ahmad Mir had received 40 live rounds of ammunition from one constable Shabir Ahmad Malik of Amshipora Shopian presently posted in District Ganderbal in central Kashmir. The constable has been arrested, source said adding that Adil further admitted that he has received 40 more rounds from constable Nazir Ahmad Najar, posted in District Police Lines (DPL), Shopian. Najar has also been arrested, they said adding further investigation was going on. (UNI)
