Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police is facing criticism over its late night raid in the house of renowned poet Munavwar Rana in Lucknow.
Rana's daughters Sumaiya Rana, who is a Samajwadi Party leader and Fauzia, a Congress leader ,have made very serious allegations against the Rae Bareli police and administration.
In Rae Bareli, there was a property dispute between the brothers of poet Munawwar Rana. On Tuesday night Tarvej, son of the poet was attacked , in Rae Bareli.
Rae Bareli police here on Friday said when police team went in search of Tarvej on Thursday night, the women members of the family misbehaved with the team.
But on the other hand Munavwar Rana, along with his daughters, SP leader Sumaira and Congress leader Fauzia, took the front and accused the police of indecency.
Rae Bareli Kotwali police had taken into custody half a dozen people, including Munavwar Rana's brother and Tabrez's uncle Rafe Rana, in the Tarbej attack case.
In Rae Bareilly, two uncles of Tarbez have lodged a cross FIR. It is reported that Tabrez had shot himself. Two people have also been arrested in this case. Tabrez had shot himself to implicate his uncles.In Lucknow, the police had allegedly searched the poet's Munawwar Rana in Hussainganj on Thursday late night.
But the poet's family alleged that during the search, the police snatched the mobile from the women of the house making the video there and then created a ruckus.
The family alleged that the police team did not have any search warrant and threatened the women.SP Rae Bareli Slok Kumar said on Friday in Rae Bareli that Tarbej had conspired of a fake attack on him to implicate his uncles over the property dispute.
"We have arrested three accomplices of Tarbej while we have a CCTV recording which proves about the conspiracy of Tarbej against his uncles. We have gone to Lucknow to arrest Tarbej and the police team was not cooperated by the family members," the SP said while denying any indecent behaviour by the police team.(UNI)
