Uproar in Bihar assembly over "insult" to national anthem by CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: Bihar legislative council was adjourned till lunch on Friday following bedlam over national anthem issue.

As soon as the Upper House assembled for the day, the opposition members led by MLC Rabri Devi raised the issue and demanded a reply from the government to it.

Accusing Kumar of "insulting" the national anthem during an event, Rabri Devi asked the government to apologize before the House and the people of the country.

Demanding resignation from the chief minister, she asked Kumar to make his son Chief Minister "if he was mentally unstable".

The opposition members shouting slogans trooped to the well and created noise.

The enlisted business for the day could not be taken up in the house due to the ruckus. The chairman of the state legislative council Awdhesh Narayan Singh requested the members to resume their seeds but in vein. Later he adjourned the house till lunch.

As it is a video clip of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been doing rounds on social media in which "he was spotted moving" during the national anthem at an international sports event held here on Thursday.

In the viral video he was seen "laughing and talking" while the national anthem was being played. In the video, he appeared "confused", then "talked" during the national anthem with his principal secretary and retired IAS officer Deepak Kumar. When Kumar touched Deepak's arm "talking and laughing", the latter asked him to "stay still. Kumar then folds his hands while looking at someone in public".
