Uttar Pradesh: Mentally retarded boy beats 10-month-old sister to death in Bahraich

Bahraich (UP): A 10-month-old girl was beaten to death by her minor brother in Ramgaon of Bahraich district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Friday.

Police said that the incident took place late on Thursday evening when the girl was playing in the courtyard of her house, her brother was also present there.

"According to the neighbours during the game, the boy suddenly attacked his sister in anger. Hearing the scream of the girl, her mother immediately ran towards the courtyard and took the girl to the nearest hospital, but there the doctors declared her dead," they said.

Circle Officer (CO) DK Srivastava said that the grandfather of the child Ramanand Mishra gave written information that his mentally retarded grandson (10) severely injured his sister by hitting

her on the face with a stick and a piece of brick.

"On the basis of the information, a case has been registered under relevant sections," he said.
