Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Girl loses legs, right hand after being thrown on railway track for protesting molestation attempts, 2 held

Bareilly (UP): Two youths were arrested and three police personnel suspended on Wednesday after a teenaged girl sustained serious injuries when she was pushed on the railway track for protesting molestation attempts in the CB Ganj area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here.
 
Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district administration to provide financial assistance of Rs five lakhs to the girl and take stern action against the accused and the guilty policemen.
 
Police sources said the 17-year-old girl was pushed on the railway track by two youths while returning from a coaching institute on Tuesday evening when she protested the molestation attempt.
 
"The girl was hit by a train, and her legs and right hand got amputated in the incident. The girl was taken to a private hospital, where her condition was stated to be serious," they said.
 
Police sources said the girl had been molested by the accused for a long time.
 
"The family members of the victim lodged a complaint with the kin of the accused, but the ordeal continued. They even lodged a complaint with the police, but no action was taken against the accused," they said.
 
Meanwhile, after the CM took serious cognizance of the incident, District Magistrate (DM) Ravindra Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan visited the hospital and inquired about the condition of the victim. After this, the girl was shifted to the medical college.
 
DM Kumar said a report has been lodged on the complaint of the victim's family.
 
"Stern action will be taken against the accused. Three policemen, including the inspector of CB Ganj police station, have been suspended," he said.
 
He said the cost of the victim's treatment would be borne by the administration.
 
Police sources said two accused, including one Vijay, have been arrested by the police.
 
"Three police personnel suspended on the charges of laxity include Inspector CB Ganj Ashok Kamboj, beat in-charge Nitin Sharma, and personnel Horilal Nigam," they said. (UNI)
