Agra: Two teenagers were arrested by the police on Friday for shooting a teacher of a private coaching institute in Khandauli area of Agra district in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sonam Kumar said that Sumit Singh, a resident of Malupur, runs a coaching institute in Khandauli village.
"On Thursday evening, Sumit was shot in his leg by two teenagers, who were having a dispute with the former's brother, inside the coaching institute," he said.
He said that the accused made a video of the incident and threatened to shoot Sumit in his leg 39 more times. "The accused made the video viral in which they claimed themselves to be gangsters. On the complaint of the teacher, and case of attempted murder was lodged," Kumar said.
The DCP said that when questioned, the accused revealed that they used to watch the videos of gangster Lawrence Vishnoi and, influenced by him, they wanted to create terror. "The accused were friends of Sumit's brother Yogendra.
The accused had a dispute with Yogendra over a mobile phone," he said.
Kumar said Sumit told yesterday that the accused came to his coaching center and inquired about Yogendra during which they shot him in his leg. "Sumit had taught the accused in his institute two years ago," he added. (UNI)
