Unnao (UP): A woman was shot dead and her two family members were injured by a youth, who later committed suicide, in Fatehpur Chaurasi area of Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, a police officer said here.
Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Prem Chand said that in the wee hours on Monday Phool Kumari (48), her husband Ram Asrey (53) and daughter Reshu were injured in a firing in Godiyan Khera village.
"The injured were taken to the community health centre where Phool Kumari was declared dead," he said.
He said that the family members had accused their neighbour Anurag Pal (22) of firing.
"The body of Anurag was found outside. A firearm was recovered near the body. It is being said that Anurag shot himself and committed suicide after the incident," he said.
Reshu, the daughter of the deceased, said that three people entered her terrace from the neighbours house and shot her mother, father and sister. She said that the miscreants also attacked with sharp-edged weapons.
She said that Anurag used to tease her sister, after which a case was lodged, and Anurag was sent to jail last year. He was released from jail two months ago and once again started harassing the family.
