Former NDTV and "The Wire" journo booked under sedition charges

New Delhi:Senior journalist Vinod Dua has been served with a notice by the Himachal Pradesh police to appear before the Kumarsain Police Station in the State on Saturday in connection with an FIR lodged against him on charges of sedition.
Dua on social networking site Facebook said the Himachal Pradesh Police served him notice on Friday morning wherein he has been asked to appear at the police station in Kumarsain Himachal at 1000 hours on Saturday.
 
Dua has also shared a copy of the notice on social media, which says that the FIR has been registered on the complaint of a person Ajay Shyam.The FIR has been lodged under sections 124A(Sedition), 505(Statements conducting to public mischief) and 501.
 
This is the second FIR against the senior journalist in the same month, as the first was filed in Delhi on  June 4 on basis of a complaint by a Delhi BJP leader, at the Laxmi Nagar Police Station, alleging that he had spread fake news that disturbed peace between two communities(UNI)
