Woman, her sister arrested for killing 1.5-month old son in Bengal

Raiganj: In a suspected case of infanticide, a woman and her sister were on Friday arrested on suspicion of  murdering her one-and-half-month old baby in West Bengal's North Dinajpur  district, police have said.
Police, after talking to witnesses,  said the accused  Pramila Burman, who married one Ratan Burman of Kalibari in Karnajhora three years ago, gave birth to a son a little over a month ago. But she had some  problems with her husband and had returned to her parents house.
 
On Friday morning, Pramila accompanied by her elder sister, returned to her husband's place when Ratan Burman was not present at home.
 
Local villagers saw the two women hurriedly walking away from the house which aroused their suspicion. They chased the duo and caught them. They questioned the duo and then when they went to Ratan Burman's house where they found the baby dead on the bed.
 
The villagers first beat up the two women and then called police and handed them over to them.(UNI)
