World no. 1 T20I batsman Dawid Malan and 2 other England players pull out from IPL

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderbad opener Johnny Bairstow, Punjab Kings Batsman Dawid Malan and Delhi Capitals all rounder Chris Woakes on Saturday pulled out of remiander of IPL 2021 citing personal reasons.

Southafrica's top order batsman Aiden Markaram is set to replace Malan in Punjab Kings.'Dawid Malan will not be travelling to UAE for the remainder of #IPL2021.He will be taking some time off to be with his family ahead of the #T20WorldCup and Ashes.' tweeted Punjab Kings.

'Welcoming our newest Lion face Aiden Markram who will replace Dawid Malan for the remainder of the season!' it said in another tweet. The proteas batsman who hit a match winning knock of 48 runs in 33 balls will debut in the cash rich league.

Other England cricketers viz Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer had pulled out previously.


The triplet Johnny Bairstow,Dawid Malan and Chris woakes have been named in T-20 world cup squad recently and might expect to be named in the Ashes tour party too.The prospects of staying more than four months away from home and bubble fatigue led to the withdrawl of England cricketers. 

However Moeen Ali, Sam billings, Sam curran, Tom Curran, George Garton, Eoin Morgan, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy are the England players who are expected to participate in the IPL. Some are expected to fly to the UAE on Saturday on a commerical flight.(UNI)
