Srinagar: A jawan of SSB was killed and eight others were wounded when militants ambushed their vehicles at Zakoora in the city outskirts this evening, official sources said. However, there was no official confirmation yet about the casualities in the incident. Sources said that militants this evening ambushed vehicles, carrying SSB personnel, who were returning to their camp after patrol party during the day near a petrol pump at Zakoora, about 15 km from here this evening.
They said nine personnel of SSB were injured who were rushed to hospital where one of them reportedly died. Security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir were immediately rushed from nearby camps and entire areas were sealed from all sides. A massive search operation has been launched, they said, adding further details are awaited. Local residents told UNI that they heard heavy firing for a minute or two in the area.
