16 yr old girl studying in XI allegedly axed by stalker, NCW issues notice

New Delhi:Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of hacking a Class XI girl student with an axe allegedly by a stalker and issued a notice to Delhi Police over the matter.
The commission has also asked the police about the steps they have been taking to reduce cases of stalking in Delhi.
 
As per media reports, the 16-year-old girl was a Moti Bagh resident and the accused was stalking her for over months and has also threatened the girl and her family.
 
As the girl rejected his advances, the accused out of anger killed the victim.
 
As per an official order made public on Wednesday, the DCW has asked all Deputy Commissioner of Police of Delhi to give a report of total number of stalking cases reported in the national capital in the last two years.
 
The commission also asked in how many cases FIRs were registered and the accused arrested as well as cases where the bail granted and the names of repeated offenders.
 
The DCW asked the Delhi Police to submit a reply before July 21 post which the commission would send recommendations to the government and police.(UNI)
