597 people die of shock following Jaya's demise

Chennai: A total of 597 people have died of shock following the demise of AIADMK Supremo and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on December five. An AIADMK statement here today said, an assistance of Rs three lakh each would be given to the families of 127 more people, who died of shock on hearing about the hospitalisation and the sudden death of Ms Jayalalithaa.
 

Till December 11, the party had announced solatium to families of 470 people, who died on hearing the death of Ms Jayalalithaa. The Party first announced assistance to the families of 280 people, who died on hearing Ms Jayalalithaa's demise, and later announced assistance of Rs three lakh each to 190 more people, taking the total number of deaths to 470. With the announcement of assistance of Rs three lakh each to the families of another 127 people, the total people who have died has mounted to 597 across the State.

The party expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and announced the assistance. The AIADMK statement also announced an assistance of Rs 50,000 to two people, who met with accidents in related incidents, and were undergoing treatment at the hospitals. It said a total of eight people were undergoing treatment in hospitals. (UNI)
