67-yr-old man awarded life imprisonment for raping daughter

Kolhapur: District Additional Session Judge Ms A U Kadam on Monday awarded life imprisonment to a 67-year-old man who was accused of continuously raping his married daughter for two months.According to Public Prosecutor (PP) Ms Manjusha Patil, wife of the accused, Dattatreya Dadu Kamble (67), resident of Ghatge Colony in Kadamwadi of the city, had died earlier. His daughter was married in 2012 but lived at her parents' home because of problems with her husband. 

Taking advantage of her helplessness, Dattatreya raped her. When the victim opposed him, he beat-up her and contiuned with his crime daily for two months.On February 15, 2015, the victim met ward Municipal Coratorator Ms Rekha Awale and narrated her ordeal. Ms Awale rushed to Shahupuri Police with the victim and registered a complaint against Dattatreya, who was arrested later.PP Ms Patil said total six witnesses were produced and examined before the court and judge Ms Kadam accepted statements of Ms Awale, neighbour Ms Saira Galdage, Goverment Medical Officer Dr Sarang Khochikar and arguments of Ms Patil and sentenced the accused of life imprisonment.(UNI)
