7 prisoners escape from Arunachal’s Pasighat jail

Itanagar: As many as seven under trial prisoners (UTPs) escaped from jail at Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, a police official said on Monday.

"The incident took place in between 6.30 to 7 pm on Sunday. Prima facie it appears inmates scuffle with the jail staffs. Seven of them managed to escape from the jail, "Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) PRO Rohit Rajbir Singh told UNI.

He, however, said except seven, other inmates who attempted to escape, were overpowered by the jail staff.

The police spokesman informed that an inquiry is being conducted by East Siang SP over the incident.

"We have got some leads and working on it. Massive search operation has been launched to nab them," Singh said. (UNI)
