Lucknow: Tampering of petrol pumps through electronic chip and remote unearthed by the Special Task Force ( STF) of Uttar Pradesh police has given a chance to opposition political parties who are alleging tampering of EVMs during just-concluded state assembly polls. Samajwadi Party president and former UP Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was the first to react. He claimed that if petrol pumps can be tampered without any internet connection then so can be the EVMs.
Though the leader did not make any comment in public or before the media, but he tweeted his feeling this morning. "Jab remote ke dwara chip se petrol ki chori bina kisi internet connection ke ho sakti hai, to evm se bhi. technology ka galat estimal rokna hoga( If petrol can be stolen through a chip without an internet connection, then EVM can be done. We have to stop misuse of the technology)'.
Mr Akhilesh Yadav has been repeatedly demanding a probe into his allegation of misuse of EVMs allegedly by the BJP during the UP assembly polls. BSP supremo Mayawati too had alleged that the tampering of the EVMs has led to the big victory of the BJP in UP and Uttarakhand assembly elections. (UNI)
