Ballia:Dhirendra Pratap Singh, the main accused in the Ballia firing incident, was sent to 14-days judicial custody on Monday.
Dhirendra was arrested from near the Janeshwar Mishra Park in the Gomti Nagar area in Lucknow on Sunday by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police.
He was presented in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Ballia this morning. He was later sent to judicial custody after the hearing.
Along with Dhirendra, two others, named Santosh Yadav and Amarjeet Yadav had also been arrested. All three were absconding after the incident and Ballia Police had announced Rs 50,000 rewards on each of them.Till date, nine people have been arrested in the firing in which one person was killed in Ballia.
Dhirendra Singh had opened fire during a meeting in Durjanpur village during a meeting over-allotment of a fair price shop on Oct 15.
In the presence of SDM and DSP, who were later suspended along with three others, Dhirendra killed one Jai Prakash Pal during a dispute. Later Dhirendra escaped from the scene.(UNI)
