New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) Claiming that it was the pressure exerted by the Congress that led to the GST Council reducing the tax rates on several items from 28% to 18%, party Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said his party's fight for a single GST rate with a cap at 18% would continue.
'India needs a simple GST not a 'Gabbar Singh tax'. The Congress and the public of the country have fought to get the tax rate on several items from 28% to 18%. Our fight for a single GST rate with a cap at 18% will continue. If the BJP does not dop it, the Congress will,' Rahul said in a tweet.
The GST Council on Friday reduced the tax rate on several items from 28% to 18%.
