New Delhi: A CBI Special Court today found guilty former Coal Secretary H C Gupta, the then Joint Secretary KS Kropha, ex-Director in the Coal Ministry K C Samaria and firm KSSPL and its Managing Director Pawan Kumar Ahluwalia in a coal blocks scam case. CBI Special Judge Bharat Parashar, however, acquitted Chartered Accountant Amit Goyal in the case related to alleged irregularities in the allocation of Thesgora-B Rudrapuri coal block in Madhya Pradesh to KSSPL.
The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on May 22. In the case, around eight different charge sheets have been filed against Gupta and proceedings were going on individually. The court had earlier framed charges against the accused and observed that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was kept in the ‘dark’ by Gupta. Prima facie, Gupta has violated the law and trust reposed in him on the issue of coal block allocation. (UNI)
