Vidisha: More than 30 people fell into a well late Thursday on the outskirts of Ganj Basoda town while attempting to bring out a child who had met the same fate earlier.
A team comprising police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and commenced a rescue and relief operation.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan – who was busy here on Thursday in connection with the marriage of his three foster daughters Radha, Preeti and Suman – was galvanised into action on learning of villagers having fallen into a well on the outskirts of Ganj Basoda town.
“In compliance with my directive, the Collector and the Superintendent of Police left for the spot. I have spoken with the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and the DG, State Disaster Response Force. The Divisional Commissioner and the Inspector General are also on alert. A National Disaster Response Force team has been dispatched. District In-charge Minister Vishvas Sarang was told to rush to the scene,” Mr Chouhan conveyed via social media. (Inputs from UNI)
