Groom’s family calls off marriage as bride’s family didn’t used branded “Kumkum” for ceremony

Palghar: The Wada police under Palghar district rural police on Thursday registered an FIR against four members of a family who allegedly called off a marriage as the girl’s family had not used a branded “Kumkum” for the Kumkum ceremony the police said.

The police said that an offence under sections 420, 417, 500 rw 34 of the IPC against the family members and a probe was underway.

The police gave the names of the alleged accused as Niraj Sudhakar (Sudam) Patil, Sudhakar (Sudam) Patil, Nayana Sudhakar (Sudam) Patil and Kamlakar Vitthal Patil, all residents of Ghotgaon of Bhiwandi.

According to the complaint by the girl’s father the families had initially agreed for the marriage and the Kumkum ceremony was held in the presence of their relatives at Wada.

All off a sudden the boy’s family sent a message that they are not going ahead with the proposal and when the reason for the same was asked for their said that the girl’s family had not used the branded Kumkum for the function and hence they were not going ahead with the marriage and breaking the relations.

The disturbed family of the bride lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday and no arrest is made in this connection so far, the police SHO at the Wada police station said. (UNI)
