Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel resigns

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today tendered her resignation saying that she wanted the younger leaders in the party to take charge of the post. In a televised message to the people of the state, Ms Patel said that she was turning 75 in November, and so wanted that people, younger than her should be at the helm of affairs before the Assembly polls and Vibrant Gujarat Summit. She thanked Prime Minister Narenda Modi for choosing her for the job. Though she could not match his performance but she had tried her best to fulfill the responsibilities given to her for the development, Ms Patel said.

BJP president Amit Shah received the Letter

BJP president Amit Shah today confirmed that the party had received Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s resignation letter and said thr final decision on it would be taken at the Party’s Parliamentary Board tomorrow. Her letter conveying her desire to quit the post of chief ministership in view of the fact that she was turning 75 soon was received this morning, and she has set a good tradition by doing so, Mr Shah said.

Credit war between AAP- Congress over resignation

Describing the resignation of Anandiben Patel as ‘long overdue’, AICC general secretary incharge for Gujarat Gurudas Kamat today said the Congress Party has been agitating for her removal for atrocities against Dalits, brutal behaviour against the Patidar Community leaders during their agitation and for massive corruption.

While Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today dubbed the resignation of his Gujarat counterpart Anandiben Patel as his party's victory in the battle against corruption.
