India- Nz series in soup after Justice Lodha freeze accounts of board

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today strongly reacted to Lodha Committee's move of freezing its bank accounts and hinted at a possibility of cancellation of all domestic and international matches, including the ongoing India-New Zealand Test series."Now we have no other option than to cancel the series(India-New Zealand).

'If we don't have money, how will we organise matches. Who will pay? We also have a lot at a stakes," BCCI spokesman told a news channel."The Lodha Committee is trying to interfere in BCCI's routine activity.Players need to be paid. If they are happy to play the third Test without being paid, then fine", he said.

"BCCI will be forced to call off all domestic and international cricket.There can be no domestic or international matches under the current climate, Pained at the decision of Lodha Committee which brought disrepute to BCCI," the Board said.

However, Justice Lodha reacting to news reports today clarified that the committee never told BCCI to stop payments on routine matters."It is clearly stated in the mail that we have told them to stop disbursing large funds to state associations,We have not told them to stop payments on routine matters. If anyone says something I can't stop it.

Conducting a series is a routine matter," Justice Lodha told a news channel.Meanwhile, New Zealand cricket has said the BCCI has told them the series has not been cancelled yet and the visitors will go ahead with preparations for the third Test.India has already clinched the three-match series, securing a decisive 2-0 lead.The third and final Test is scheduled to start on Saturday in Indore.
