Lucknow: Former MP Jayant Choudhury on Tuesday took over as the new president of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), after his father late Ajit Singh succumbed to Corona earlier this month.
After getting elected, Choudhury promised to take forward the ideologies of late prime minister and his grandfather Choudhury Charan Singh and his father late Ajit Singh.
In his first address to the party leaders and workers, he extended full support to the farmers' agitation over the three farm bills and asked the cadre to gear up for the Assembly polls in UP. He also appealed to the party workers and leaders to help the Corona victims.
The RLD leaders elected Jayant Choudhury as their new leader through a meeting held virtually in wake of the Covid guidelines.
For the last couple of years, Jayant Choudhury was serving as the vice-president of the party though he was managing all the party affairs due to his father's health problems
