Bengaluru: Madappa, father of deceased Kannada actress Soujanya, has lodged a complaint against a Telugu actor Vivek of harassing her which allegedly forced her to commit suicide.
The actress was found dead at her apartment in Bengaluru Thursday.
In the complaint lodged Thursday with Kumbolgod police, Madappa suspected that Vivek was mentally torturing and harassing Soujanya.
He also appealed to the police to seek details from Mahesh who is assistant to Soujanya to throw light on Vivek.
"Mahesh is Soujanya's friend. The police should ascertain from him the details about the Telugu actor. Vivek had once come to my house. He had also told my wife that he wants to marry my daughter," he told reporters.
"I suspect Vivek came to the apartment and harassed my daughter, which must have forced her to take the extreme step. Her mobile and money is missing," Madappa said.
Before hanging herself from a ceiling fan, Soujanya had left a death note, which had not blamed anyone.
Soujanya had mentioned that she was suffering from some health issues and was undergoing treatment, but to no avail.
Madappa, however, denied Soujanya had any health issues. "My daughter did not have any health issues. Her health was good," Madappa said.
Vivek, on the other hand, denied all the allegations levelled by Madappa and said he is very as much curious as Soujanya's father to know the reason for Soujanya committing suicide.
He said he did not have any living-in relationship with Soujanya, but had a bond through a common friend. "She was very decent and too obedient," he said.
Vivek also denied having made any proposal to marry Soujanya.
The deceased actress' post-mortem will be completed today and her body taken to her native village. (UNI)
