Kerala: 62-year-old man gored to death by gaur

Idukki (Kerala): A 62-year-old man was gored to death by a wild Indian gaur (bison) at Marayoor near Munnar district of Kerala.

"The deceased was identified as Durai Raj hailing from Pallanad at Mangalapara. The bison attacked him when he was returning home from a private farm on Monday evening," sources said.

Following the incident, people in the area staged a protect blocking the police from removing the body from the spot alleging that the authorities failed to effectively tackle the stray gaur menace in the Marayoor limits.

Earlier also wild gaurs strayed into town limits and attacked people.

Later, following the intervention of top forest authorities, the body, found from the farming place of Kallarakkal Jose Mathew, was shifted to the Marayoor Primary Health Centre. (UNI)
