Kendrapara: Unable to bear the humiliation and comment a 22 year old girl on Friday committed suicide by hanging.
Protesting the inaction of police and demanding the arrest of the accused persons , the family members of the deceased with the help of locals staged dharana in front of Patkura police station keeping the body of the girl.
One Jharana Swain, 48, Mohammuda village under Patkura police station, lodged an FIR alleging that her 22-years-old daughter, Subhra Subhadarshini Swain, committed suicide by hanging herself unable to bear the comments and humiliation of the accused persons, who used to make the character assassination of her daughter
According to Jharana Swain, on June,17 last fellow villagers Chhabindra Behera ,his son Abhaya Behera along with some others supporters of the local sarpanch, allegedly misbehaved oneAtala Behari Mohanty,.
When he protested they assaulted him.His daughter in law was also assaulted when she came to rescue her.The attackers also tried to outraged the modesty of the woman and attempted to strip her by assaulting her in the presence of local sarapanch of Padmapur GP to take political revenge from them .
The family members too faced the wrath of the attackers.Sunita Mohanty lodged an FIR on last June 17 last at Patkra police station,but failed to get justice as police did not take any action against the accused persons .
The accused person allegedly passed comments and humiliated her daughter by making character assassination and mentally harassed her .Jharna said her daughter committed suicide by hanging herself when she was at the grocery shop.
The family members with the help of locals staged dharana and kept the body of the girl by in frontof police station gate.SDPO of Kendrapada, Rajib Lochan Panda, rushed to the Patkura police station and discussed with the agitated people .
The agitation was withdrawn after the SDPO of Kendrapada assured the agitators that to conduct inquiry and take steps to arrest the accused persons .The agitators withdrew their agitation and Patkura police seized the body and sent for autopsy to District Head Quarter hospital .
Meanwhile ,Patkura police detained Nimai Behera, the husband of Padmapur sarapanch Anusaya Behera in connection with the incident(UNI)
