Mumbai: There is no need to appoint an external mechanism to handle the social media of the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office, the decision in this regard should be cancelled immediately, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed on Thursday.

The Deputy Chief Minister’s Office does not feel the need to work independently on social media. While it is possible to carry out the responsibility of government public relations through the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) there is no question of delegating the responsibility of social media of the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office to an external system, an official statement said.

Mr Pawar has also clarified that communication with the citizens and media will be maintained only through the existing public relations system.

The decision to appoint an independent social media system for the office of Deputy Chief Minister was issued yesterday.

As Deputy Chief Minister Mr Pawar was staying away from unnecessary publicity, the ruling was being met with surprise.

Mr Pawar himself has made it clear that there is no need for an independent social media management system for his office, the ruling in this regard will be revoked. (UNI)
