Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee discharged from SSKM Hospital on Friday.

“After keeping the chief minister under observation for 48 hours and repeated requests from her, it has been decided to discharge the TMC supremo, an official of SSKM Hospital said in a statement.

“Ms Banerjee has responded well to the treatment. The six-member board has re-examined her health condition. We have opened the plaster cast. Fresh plaster has been applied. She has been discharged with appropriate instructions, after her repeated requests,” the medical board of the SSKM Hospital said.

“She has been advised to revisit after seven days,”. the medical board added.

After her release, the chief minister was seen coming out of the hospital in a wheelchair.

The TMC supremo suffered injuries when she was on a two-day visit to Nandigram from where she filed her nomination on Wednesday.

Ms Banerjee alleged that she was pushed by a few unidentified people during her election campaign.

Earlier, A six-member delegation of ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs today met the full EC team, including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora, for over an hour and submitted a memorandum to it, highlighting how BJP leaders in West Bengal had threatened the chief minister through tweets and other remarks.

The delegation included TMC MPs Dereck O’Brien, Saugata Roy, Satabdi Roy, Kakoli Ghosh. Dastidar, Pratima Mondal and Santunu Sen

In a letter to EC, TMC delegation alleged an attempt was made on the life of our Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee, on 10 March 2021 at Nandigram though the perpetrators failed in their vicious attempt.

The BJP also demanded that special observers be appointed for the Nandigram Assembly seat from where Ms Banerjee is contesting against her protege-turned-adversary the BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari. (UNI)
