Imphal: A man was handed over to Assam Police on Monday by Manipur Police for allegedly poaching a Rhino in Assam.
Police said a report was received from SP Golaghat (Assam) Dr. Robin Kumar, about a Rhino poacher identified as Gouchin V Khamkhopau of Churachandpur district.
He was wanted in connection with ref FIR case No 117/2021 u/s 120 (B)/447/429/379 IPC, r/w 25(1-A)/27/35 Arms Act r/w 51 (I-A) Wild Life Protection Act at Bokahat PS. A team of Churachandpur Police under supervision of Shivanand Surve, SP gathered information about the said person.
He was successfully tracked and picked up on July 11 and accordingly Assam Police was informed. Police team from Bokahat PS, Golaghat District arrived today and took the accused into their custody after getting Transit remand from the court and observing all legal formalities. (UNI)
