Badaun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today questioned the alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress and said SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has put an Aligarh lock on the future of Uttar Pradesh youth to further his own political goals. Addressing a rally here, Mr Modi said he had heard about Budaun, while he was in Gujarat and thought what could be reason that fruits of development could not reach this land under SP, BSP governments.

Criticising the two parties, Mr Modi said "Budaun toh VIP hai kyunki yeh to Mulayam aur Mayawati ka karya skhetra raha, phir bhi Budaun ka vikaas nahi hua hai". (Badaun is VIP area as it was the work place of SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP President Mayawati, but fruits of development could not reach this place).

Mr Modi said when MPs from here also indulge in corruption charges, how the party can talk about development. He said when SP was in Opposition, it used to assure the people of taking stern action against the corrupt officials of Mayawati government but after gaining power, CM Akhilesh gave them plum postings. Underlining the motto of his government, the Prime Minister said "Our government is dedicated to serve the poor, marginalised and farmers and we are initiating several steps to uplift their social status."

Slamming the SP-Congress alliance, Mr Modi said to win the elections, two clans have come closer. They are misguiding the public by hopeless talks. At the time of elections, when a government should present its report card, the UP CM only talks about Modi, he added. 'I will give account of every penny to the public in 2019,' he added. Mr Modi said the public has given the indication of March 11 results by making BJP candidates win at the Legislative Council.

Talking about corruption, Mr Modi said 'When I took strong steps against corruption, all parties came together against Modi'. The SP and BSP are united and speak in one voice against him, he alleged. Targeting corruption and crime incidents in SP government, the Prime Minister asked 'Why is SP government sheltering criminals and land mafias?' Advocating the decision of demonetisation, he said the decision was taken to curb black money and corruption and it was not taken in haste.

Urging to vote in favour of BJP, Mr Modi said it's time to get over with casteism and nepotism. To reduce corruption, the Centre has eliminated interview process in class 3 and 4 grade jobs, he claimed. During the whole speech, Mr Modi mainly targeted the SP-Congress alliance, rather than Mayawati, though he slammed the top notch state parties over the issue of corruption. (UNI)
