Silchar: A 35-year-old woman and her son died after they were bit by a snake at Farmala village of Ramakrishnanagar circle in Karimganj district.

According to sources, the incident took place late on Thursday night when the woman Asnur Begum was sleeping with her son Tahirul Islam (10) in their house at Farmala. The other family members woke up after hearing Asnur screaming.

After the family members reached the room (where Asnur and Tahirul were sleeping), they saw the serpent coiling itself aggressively. It immediately slithered outside the room after seeing the other people, sources said.

Meanwhile, Asnur fell unconscious after which the family members, who speculated that Tahirul was crying just because of fear, took Asnur to a hospital where she was treated. She, however, did come back to her senses.

After returning back to home with Asnur, they found Tahirul unconscious. Besides, Asnur's health deteriorated immensely following which she along with Tahirul were rushed to a hospital, where Tahirul was declared brought dead. After sometime, Asnur was also declared dead by the doctors at the hospital, sources said.(UNI)
