Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Thursday failed to file a timely charge sheet in the alleged cruise drugs bust case, in which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was sent to jail last year.
The stipulated period is 180 days, which ended on Thursday, after the case was registered in October 2021. However, a 60-day extension was given by special court here.
The agency on Monday filed an application before special judge VV Patil, seeking a 90-day extension to file the charge sheet since the investigation in the high-profile case was still underway.
However, the judge, after hearing arguments of both sides, gave the probe agency only 60 days more. The NCB has been investigating the case for nearly six months.
With the extension, the agency will seek to fill in the loopholes and make a watertight case against the accused.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the NCB, through Special Public Prosecutor Advait Sethna, had given details of the work that has been done by the agency in the last 180 days. (UNI)
